A few more windsurfing photo stiches



I've been carrying on my expiration with photo stiches in photoshop and slowly now getting to point where I'm happy with the results and a lot better understanding of what works and what does not, it's still very much like a virtual jigsaw trying to get the image to look right with so much movement going on and also overlaying the right photos on top of the next or under so photo looks as less cultured as possible but also showing off as much action as I can.

Got out on the coast path for a few hours yesterday with the camera even though it was bit grey and miserable managed to get couple of shots of the cliffs, I just love the way the sea and the landscape around where I live changes day by day. Cornwall is so beautiful in its raw state the structure of the cliffs carved out of the granite by the ocean waves and wind.

I've had a bit of spare time recently and decided to spend a little time learning to stich photos of action sequences. Here are a few of my 1st attempts using some windsurf photography I recently took. I've found the main issue with this is deciding on what photo will be bottom layer and knowing that then the whole photo is based on that. Also choosing what images to cut from the original sequences was also tricky 1st of all I didn't want image to be to busy but I also wanted image to show all of the action so getting the spacing when the image is put together was important to consider when starting to build the stich.

I found windsurfing to be good subject to start with as all the movement was vertical in the shots rather than a turn is surfing where the subject comes back on itself which I've found hard to define the action without having very busy image. I'm hoping the best fix for this is going to be shooting the subject more square on rather than down the line of the wave.

A few other problems I've had is with exposure of the sky in the shots even though they were all photos in a stich were taken a split second apart I've found the difference in colour of up to a stop from other images this took a bit of blending and tweaking to get looking somewhere near where I was happy but still I need to find an easier fix for this.

Spent an eve at the stunning Cot Valley near St Just trying to get the prefect sunset but in the end it didn't play ball but happy with some smokey waves using a 3 stop ND filter to get the effect. By using a ND filter you can extend the shutter times to blur out the waves giving the smokey effect on the sea.

I was blessed growing up in West Cornwall living only a stones through from the sea has meant my life has always been involved with the sea. St Just is the small town in West Cornwall where I grew up it has to beautiful beaches and with this post I hope I've showed them off for what they are.

I can spend days down in this area watching the waves, surfing and fishing every time I take a photo on a trip down there its so different to the last trip I never get board of this area and always looking forward to my next trip home.
